Decade Summary
2020-2029
2020
This was the year of lockdown due to the Covid Pandamic. Practices were stopped for most of the year and events cancelled.
2021
The Covid 19 Pandemic continued to restrict activities in 2021 but we did manage to deliver some events such as a concert in Bryn Rugby Club, singing at the Amazon warehouse in Swansea and carols for a charity event at the Bridgend factory outlet.
2022
After two years of Covid restrictions, it was good to get back to regular practices and start putting on events again. The first of these was on 1st March at Amazon in Swansea. A few days later on March 5th, the Gleemen put on a concert at Tondu Cricket Club. This was well attended and resulted in some new choristers joining us. After the good news of greatly reduced Covid restrictions, there was bad news following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia that led to worldwide tensions and a massive loss of lives in Ukraine. The choir attended a demonstration in Maesteg in support of Ukraine. This took place on 12th March. Many more events took place throughout the year including a choir trip away, the first since the Covid pandemic. We set off on July 4th for four days, staying at Newquay in Cornwall where we sang at a wedding at St Ives and put on a concert in Newquay with the Newquay MVC. We also managed a trip to Padstow and some socialising in and around Newquay. The run up to Christmas was also very busy with many charity appearances by the choir.
